At 52, I regard myself as a young(ish), passionate, vibrant campaigner and an experienced politician. Widowed, with a daughter and grandson, I have lived in Carterton for 14 years and has lived in the ward for the last 5. I have 20 years political experience at all levels, both nationally and internationally, including 9 years as a locally elected representative at both Town and District level.

In addition to my 16 years as an RAF officer, I have 12 years partnership/directorship experience in both SMEs and national organisations. I ran myown consultancy practice and am currently a political consultant specialising in international election methods.

I was a West Oxon District Councillor for Carterton South between 1998-2002 and a Carterton Town Councillor between 1999-2007 (Conservative until 2001 and Independent thereafter). I was a Non-executive Director of SW Oxon NHS PCT from February 2001 - June 2006. I sit on Oxfordshire School's Admission's Appeals Panel.

I undertook a first degree in law at Trent Polytechnic in Nottingham and was called to the Bar in 1980, but did not practise.

I was a RAF navigator from 1981-1997 and was awarded the General Service Medal with Northern Ireland clasp. My final posting was to RAF Brize Norton where I was involved in planning air-to-air refuelling in UK airspace. Since leaving the RAF I have been self-employed. I am now focussed on political consultancy work.

I have been an international election observer in Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Latvia, Albania, Armenia, Georgia and Bosnia and have worked for the FCO in the Middle East. Most recently I worked as a Long-term Observer in Skopje region in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

I have had a number of published articles and am still working on a book.

Unlike the incumbent councillor I actually live in the ward.

If elected as an Independent councillor for Carterton NE, on Oxfordshire County Council:

Locally, I will continue to campaign for the reopening of the Oxford-Carterton railway. I have campaigned on the matter since 1999 and was responsible for persuading West Oxon DC and Oxon County Council to undertake a pre-feasibility study. The railway is achievable at a reasonable cost compared to other options. Had the work on the railway commenced at the time the pre-feasibility study was completed there would already be an operational station in Eynsham and the link to Witney would be being built. The block on development came largely from the Conservative group on WODC.

I want to see tougher treatment of the handful of delinquents in our communities whilst allowing ordinary teenagers to meet in peace at their regular meeting places.

As a former member of SW Oxon NHS PCT I will monitor the situation regarding Witney Community Hospital and would seek to meet directly with the local health trusts to ensure continuity of services in West Oxon.
